Pure Athamanic (Video)
Athamanika (or Tzoumerka) mountain range is part of the wider Pindus mountain range. It’s highest point is peak Kakarditsa, at 2,429 m (7,969 ft).
Tzoumerka has a low population density. Forests dominate the low lying areas of the mountain. Grasslands, shrubs and barren rocks dominate the higher elevations. The main rivers draining the area are, Arachthos in the west, and Achelous in the east.
Tzoumerka and the surroundings have designated as one of the most important areas for birds in Greece, and have been declared as National Park of Tzoumerka, Peristeri and Arachthos gorge.
